On June 19, 2012, Director of China National Swine Industry Association Jing Jizhong met with Eric Trachtenberg, Director of Food & Agriculture Sector of McLarty Associates in the CAAA Hall.
Mr. Eric noted that CAAA is a valuable partner in the development of agriculture between China and US. Appreciating CAAA's work during his tenure in the USAPEEC and AOT of U.S. Embassy, Eric stressed that the issue of agriculture cooperation is an urgent task faced by both sides. Although government to government partnership is very important, it still has its limitation due to the fragmented characteristic of the agriculture. What keeps in his mind is to set up a B2B association, a vehicle to help the voice of enterprises from both sides to be heard not only by the government, but also by the public. Since Eric has a government background, to bridge a China-U.S. agricultural partnership where membership could share ideas and new technologies is much easier and trustful.
Mr. Jing pointed out that the CAAA-U.S. relations develop healthily and have achieved fruitful results, evidenced by our ties with American Soybean Association, US Poultry & Egg Export Council, and U.S. Meat Export Federation and the newly built relations with Iowa Economic Development Authority and our membership company TRS group's investment in U.S. with Whiteshire Hamroc and etc. It is the common aspiration of both sides to consolidate and develop the bilateral relations. CAAA is willing to maintain exchanges with U.S., continue to promote cooperation in various fields, set up enterprises in U.S. and invite pig firms to invest in China, strengthen communications on major issues such us cost control, blue ear diseases, manure treatment, biomass, ractopamine fed pigs and other feed addictives and beyond. We hope to share and learn from American successful pig development experience, expect American firms to expand investment in China and strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation. CAAA is ready to cooperate with Eric's new US-China Agri-business Partnership Association and create a better future of China-U.S. cooperation.
Zhaohang, Vice Director of the China National Cattle Industry Association also attended the meeting.
