On the morning of August 23, 2012, Vice President Jing Jizhong of China Swine Industry Association met with Commercial Counselor Josephine Choi, Government of Alberta China Office. Both sides exchanged view on cooperation between CAAA and three Canadian western provinces, including Alberta, British Columbia (BC) and Saskatchewan.
By listing a series of statistics, Mr. Jing exemplified China's stance as the world's biggest pig farming and consuming country, with many counties thinking highly of Chinese market. CAAA has already established close ties with many countries, such as U.S. , Denmark, Netherlands and etc. Meanwhile, Mr. Jing also reiterated the long sustained close relationship, which has enjoyed rapid development and achieved fruitful results. He also called on the two sides to enhance coordination and cooperation on husbandry farming and training affairs.
Vice Director Zhao Hang gave a profile of Chinese Cattle Industry and bilateral trade in the past decade. He also invited the Canadian side to take part in the forthcoming seventh (2012) China Cattle Industry Development Conference on Sep. 22nd and their preparatory work up till now.
In response, Ms. Josephine also invited Mr. Jing and Mr. Zhao to take part in the upcoming New West Partnership - Agriculture Seminar 2012 on Sep. 19th , 2012. With 30 representatives from the government and the industry to give speeches on the meeting, the seminar has already attracted many participants from agriculture officers of Alberta , BC and Saskatchewn, and industry association representatives at both the national and provincial level. Except for plenary session, the seminar will hold breakout session particular for swine industry and cattle industry.
Echoing Ms. Josephine's invitation, Mr. Jing and Mr. Zhang all expressed their willingness to take part in the seminar, and call on more companies to join this industry-oriented platform to further explore swine and cattle issues of common concern.
At last, Ms. Josephine and Mr. Xinyu Yang, Commercial Officer asked Mr. Jing to give a speech on the seminar. Mr. Jing added his willingness to be a speaker and expressed his wishes to strengthen bilateral cooperation and communication with the Canadian sides to hold more of such seminars for the benefit of both people. Ms. Josephine also added that the Canadian side would give full support to the Chinese Animal Husbandry Expo and other related actives held by China Animal Agriculture Conference.
International Cooperation Department Director Ai Lin also attended the meeting and served as the chairman.
