U.S. Feed Quality Workshop



In collaboration with Agricultural Trade office, Embassy of U.S.A., U.S Grains Council and China Grassland Association, U.S. Forage Export Council held U.S. Feed Quality Workshop in Renaissance Beijing Chaoyang Hotel on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 16 th , 2012. About 80 people from forage business and dairy cattle breeding field took part in the workshop.

President Lu Xinshi was invited to attend and address the workshop. On behalf of China Grassland Association, Mr. Lu extended greetings to the convening of this meeting and best regards to the participants. Lu said the alfalfa standard assessment were really such an important issue that organizing such education workshop are in the benefit of the alfalfa people from both countries. He also called on the American side to hold more seminars and workshop of this kind, to further promote communication among grassland industry and achieve win-win cooperation.

DDGS Apply in Dairy Ration

Professor Daniel is an acknowledged authoritative expert on alfalfa plantation and alfalfa economic and quality assessment. In his speech, Professor Daniel gave a vivid description of forage planting in western U.S. Through various experiments data, diagram and pictures, Daniel showed to the audience ways to define alfalfa quality, pricing of supreme alfalfa, quality elements that matters to the dairy cattle nutritionist, sampling of alfalfa and other important issues. Interested in the topics mentioned, participants are actively engaged in the Q&A.

From the third quarter of 2009, China began to import DDGS greatly from U.S. In view of the strong domestic demand and the increasing import amount, May Ye from USGC China gave a presentation on DDGS Apply in Dairy Ration. Her presentation are well-received by the participants.

These two presentations, eloquent and practical, are of great use to the stakeholders pertaining to the alfalfa assessment and DDGS apply. U.S. Feed Quality Workshop has been an exemplar for CAAA-USFEC friendly cooperation. China Grassland Association is willing to make joint efforts with the U.S. side to promote more such educational program in a bid to benefit the two peoples.
